General medicine
Everyday illness, prescriptions, sick certificates and referrals, with results explained properly rather than read off a printout.
A family practice on Brookfield Terrace since 2009
Four doctors, two nurses, and a waiting room that is rarely more than a few people deep. Appointments are usually available the same week, a standard consultation lasts twenty minutes rather than ten, and when you ring, a person answers.
Reception open today until 18:30
20-minute standard consultations
Everyday medicine, long-term conditions, and the things that need a doctor's eye rather than an evening of searching. If you are not sure whether something needs an appointment, describe it to reception — they will tell you honestly.
Everyday illness, prescriptions, sick certificates and referrals, with results explained properly rather than read off a printout.
Newborn checks, the childhood vaccination schedule and development reviews, in longer slots so nobody is rushed.
Cervical screening, contraception, menopause reviews and questions about pregnancy, including early advice on where to go next.
Yearly reviews for diabetes, blood pressure, asthma and thyroid conditions, with one doctor keeping an eye on the whole picture.
Dressings, wound care, stitch removal, joint injections and small skin procedures, all done in our own treatment room.
Travel vaccines with up-to-date country advice, plus driving medicals, pre-employment forms and reports for employers.
Medication reviews, falls and memory concerns, and home visits within four kilometres when coming in is genuinely hard.
A first conversation in a double appointment, a plan we agree together, and referral to counselling services when that fits better.
There is no app to download and no account to create. Three ways in, whichever suits you.
Fastest for anything urgent. A receptionist answers between 8:00 and 18:30 and can see the diary while you are on the phone.
Send your name, date of birth and a line about the reason. Requests are answered the same working day, usually within two hours.
Saturday mornings, 9:00 to 11:00, are kept for children under twelve. No appointment needed and no charge for eligible children.
Four doctors and two nurses, all of them based here. You stay with the same doctor unless you would rather not, and if your own GP is away, whoever sees you will have read your notes before you sit down.
GP partner
Galway-trained, here since 2011. Leads the diabetes and heart reviews, and teaches on the practice's trainee programme.
GP partner
One of the two founding doctors. Does the minor procedures and joint injections, and handles most of the insurance and employer reports.
General practitioner
Child health and adolescent medicine. Runs the Saturday morning walk-in clinic and the newborn checks.
General practitioner
Older patients, home visits, medication reviews and anything involving memory or falls.
Practice nurse
Asthma reviews, wound care, travel advice and the childhood vaccination clinics.
Practice nurse
Bloods, dressings, blood pressure checks and the long-term condition clinics.
Three of the team are GP trainers, so a trainee doctor may sit in on an appointment. Reception always asks first, and you are free to say no.
The fee is written down and confirmed when you book, not discovered at the desk afterwards. This list is reviewed each January.

Vaccines, dressings and laboratory tests are charged at cost and are always quoted before anything is given. If an appointment turns out to need more time than booked, we finish it and tell you what the extra cost is — we do not stop halfway.
If money is the reason you are putting something off, say so when you book. It is a more common conversation than you would think, and we would far rather have it before the appointment than after.
We are on Brookfield Terrace, two minutes from the bus stop and a ten-minute walk from the DART, with step-free access straight off the pavement.

If anything here would make an appointment difficult, say so when you book. It is a normal request, and it is easier to arrange in advance than on the day.
The entrance is step-free from the pavement, with a level threshold and a handrail at the door. Every consulting room and the accessible WC are on the ground floor. A hearing loop is fitted at reception, and guide and assistance dogs are always welcome.
Consultations can be held in English or Irish — ask for Irish when you book and we will put you with a doctor who speaks it. Two of the team speak Polish and Portuguese. For any other language, tell reception and we will arrange an interpreter, usually within three working days.
You can ask for a longer appointment, a quiet corner of the waiting room, a companion in the room, or a phone appointment if coming in is difficult. Say it when you book and it is arranged, without needing to explain why.
Yes. Tell reception which doctor you would prefer and they will book you with them wherever the diary allows. If your own GP is away and the appointment cannot wait, you will see one of the others, and they will have read your notes before you come in.
A standard appointment is twenty minutes. Longer slots are kept for first appointments, long-term condition reviews, procedures and anything that involves two or three separate problems. Say so when you book and reception will give you the longer slot rather than squeezing it in.
All ages, starting with the newborn check at six weeks. Saturday mornings between 9:00 and 11:00 are kept for children under twelve — walk in, no appointment needed. Vaccinations are booked on weekday afternoons.
Certificates are issued during an appointment, so ask at the time rather than afterwards. Referral letters and fuller medical reports usually take three working days, and reception will tell you at the start if there is a fee for the report.
Most mornings, Monday to Friday, either by appointment or as a walk-in before 11:00. Results are usually back within two working days. We contact you if something needs attention; if you have not heard from us and want to check, ring reception rather than worrying about it.
Between 18:30 and 8:00, and all day at weekends, the out-of-hours GP service answers on 01 555 0199 and can see you at their base in the city or arrange a home visit. They send us a note about every contact, so your own doctor will know what happened.
This page cannot give medical advice, and it cannot tell you how urgent a symptom is.

During opening hours, ring reception and describe what is happening. They will tell you whether to come in, wait, or go somewhere more suitable — and they would much rather you asked.
